FIFA has approved the Accra Sports Stadium as the host for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad in the March international break.
The Black Stars will take on Chad in their fifth World Cup qualifying match on Friday, March 21, 2025, kicking off at 19:00 hours.
Having put a disappointing African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign behind them where the Black Stars failed to qualify for the continent’s most prestigious tournament for the first time in two decades, the Black Stars will now shift their focus to the 2026 World Cup, a competition where they are currently excelling in the qualifying phase.
The Black Stars have accumulated nine points from four matches, tying them with Comoros, although they currently occupy second place, boasting a record of three victories and one loss.
Ghana’s qualifying campaign kicked off with a narrow 1-0 victory over Madagascar, but they stumbled with a loss to Comoros. However, the Black Stars quickly regained momentum with back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic in June last year .
The last match Ghana played at the Accra Sports Stadium was in the final round of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, where they suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat to Niger, marking the first time Niger had ever beaten Ghana on Ghanaian soil.
Ghana will wrap up the March international window with a trip to Morocco for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Madagascar on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Initially set to take place in Antananarivo, the match has been relocated to Al Hoceima, Morocco, due to Madagascar’s national stadium not meeting the required standards.
