Police in Assin Wurakese Camp, located in the Assin Foso Municipality of the Central Region have arrested a 43-year-old woman for allegedly biting a customer’s testicles when both were engaged in a violent altercation over 20 pesewas.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The woman, identified as Esi Affumwaa, owns a drinking spot in the municipality.
According to reports, Osman, a 36-year-old farmer had purchased a cigarette for GH?1.20 from Affumwaa’s drinking spot but initially paid GH?1 and promised to settle his outstanding debt later.
Osman returned the next day to purchase another cigarette and paid GH?5 expecting Affumwaa to deduct his outstanding debt of 20 pesewas.
Reports say Osman decided to make another purchase assuming that the amount will be deducted from his previous GH?5.
However, Affumwaa confronted him demanding that he pay his 20 pesewas debt, this caused a heated argument.
Osman narrated that the argument suddenly escalated into a physical altercation. He alleged that Affumwaa struck him on the head with a stick, causing him to fall to the ground.
“She, with the help of her children, pounced on me, beating me mercilessly before biting my testicles,” Osman recounted.
He said he began bleeding profusely and screamed for help until bystanders rushed him to the hospital.
Osman was hospitalised with serious injuries but has since been discharged from the hospital.
The Assin Fosu District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jacob Kumedzro, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations were ongoing.
